Miami Children’s Museum partners with Art Basel to bring innovative art programming to families from all over the world. This year the Museum will be educating children as they explore contemporary art and the culturally diverse and globally influenced artists of this movement.

STATE OF KID
Thursday, December 5th:
Maker Monkey Workshop at 4:00 pm (ages 3 and up)
In this Art Basel-themed class, children will be empowered to create art using real tools. They will build confidence and change their perspective of the world around them as they learn how things are actually made. Led by Sarah Wilson, an experienced metalsmith and jewelry designer, Maker Monkey allows children to work with hammers, nails, sandpaper, glue, recycled wood and more to produce their own masterpiece.
Friday, December 6th:
State of Kid x Poppet Project Workshop at 4:30 pm (ages 2 and up)
In this Art Basel-themed workshop, a Poppet Project instructor will help all participants create a collaborative work of art. They will each work on their own individual design using colored paper and a variety of decorative materials. The designs will be incorporated into one large paper chandelier which will hang at State of Kid for all to see during Art Basel.

“ORDER OF IMPORTANCE“
Leandro Erlich’s temporary installation, “The Order of Importance,” will have more than five dozen cars sculpted from sand. Located at the beach site just beyond Lincoln Road and Collins Avenue Mr. Erlich is putting more than five dozen cars in his traffic jam, and it will extend over roughly two-thirds the length of a football field. It will be on display to the public through Dec. 15, and be dismantled after that.

BOTERO ON LINCOLN ROAD
On one of the most popular pedestrian promenades in the country, visitors will be able to stroll by 13 monumental bronze sculptures from one of the most popular — and recognized — living sculptors, the Colombian Fernando Botero, during the winter months, courtesy of the Nader Art Museum.
PINK BEASTS
A collection of pink hairy sloths hanging from ropes, trees and arches the installation will also include 10 sculptural hammocks hanging on metal structures and palm trees, for the public to sit.
