Looking for something to do with the kids on a Sunday morning? Join us at the Vizcaya Village Farmers Market for a FREE drop-in activity.
Perfect for families and children aged 6-12, this FREE interactive workshop invites you to explore the world of clay by crafting your very own clay pot.
Admission: FREE. Crafts are available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
Discover the Joy of Creation:
The talented Sumoonah Bri, whose work intertwines nature with ancient wisdom, will guide the group in the pinch pot technique – one of the world’s oldest art forms. Characterized by its simplicity and the direct connection it allows between the clay and the potter’s hands, this approach can be used by beginners and experienced ceramists alike.
Participants will explore the tactile pleasure of molding terracotta clay into personalized pinch pots to take home.
Whether you fancy making a unique mug, a trinket dish, or another imaginative vessel, this workshop is an open canvas for your creativity. This program requires manipulating natural material, allows for individual expression, and is especially effective for tactile learners.
Connect with Nature and Artistry:
The earth provided clay and in this workshop we will provide all the materials including Terracotta clay for participants to make their own pinch pot.
Experience the grounding effect of working with clay, connecting with the earth through sense of touch and sight as you work to sculpt a small bowl.
A Day at Vizcaya Village:
Beyond crafting, enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of the Vizcaya Village Farmers Market. Open from 9 am to 2 pm, the market is a treasure trove of local produce, artisan crafts, and delightful conversations with community farmers and vendors.
