Meet a Mom: Ceci Herrera owner of The Children’s Exchange! | The Miami Moms
Have you ever wondered about that little consignment shop in South Miami? Well we talked to owner Ceci Herrera to learn more about how The Children’s Exchange is serving local families, and how she balances running a business and Motherhood!

How long have you been in Miami?

I was born and raised here!

I have lived in Miami all of my life.

How many kids do you have?

I have 3 babies, Camila 13, Colette 11, and Pedro 8.

Tell us about your business. Why and how did you get started?

I like to believe that The Children’s Exchange holds a special place in the hearts of Miami’s community. It was established on January 8, 1981 (which also happens to be my birthday) by two women with the vision of offering a sustainable solution for families to buy and sell children’s clothing. In 2009, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to acquire the business from its previous owners. To me, the essence of this store has always been about fostering meaningful connections with our customers while striving to provide the best shopping experience for both our consignors and customers. I love witnessing the impact of these efforts, as families return over the years, now accompanied by their grandchildren and even great-grandchildren.

Where can families find your store?

The Children’s Exchange is located in South Miami at 1415 Sunset Drive.

How do you balance work and motherhood?

One day at a time! I believe that with three kids and the demands of running your own business, it’s tempting to try and do everything. However, over the years, I’ve learned to accept that there will be days when things don’t go as planned, and that’s perfectly okay. Embracing this reality has enabled me to appreciate both aspects of my life so much more.

What’s your favorite family activity in Miami?

We’ve always enjoyed going to the movies and having dinner in the Grove or Merrick Park. As my kids grow older and their social lives become busier, finding the time can be tricky. However, when we do manage to find the time, it’s an activity that we all agree on and cherish as a family.
