This past weekend I was invited to attend a media preview of The Phillip and Patricia Frost Science Museums brand new exhibit! So what better chance to share with you guys my families experience! As most of you know I am a Mom to two babies, and we are proud members of The Frost! We always love to attend, especially on rainy days because of the covered parking and indoor activities. The babies can stay in their stroller the entire time as there are elevators and ramps throughout the museum. They are also taking precautions by sanitizing the planetarium after each showing, checking visitor temperatures, and enforcing facial coverings. There is also sanitizers and wipes available throughout the museum. They are working hard to keep visitors and families safe!
Natures Superheroes is the newest exhibit in the frost that shows us some pretty incredible things! The exhibit will be open until April 11th and is conveniently located next to the check in center. The exhibit goes into detail about some interesting creatures and some of the bizarre things that they can do. There are plenty of graphics and short videos, enough to keep even the tiniest of visitors scoping it out. Did you know an Elephant seal can hold its breath for 2 hours? And let me inform you that they are much bigger than I could have ever imagined. There are life sized models, as well as some enlarged models of some tiny creatures so be sure to look up! And definitely don’t forget to stop and smell the flowers, there are two scented experiences, and after you can wrap up with a socially distanced virtual experience!
After checking out the newest exhibit you still have a whole museum to roam, be sure to plan on attending a showing of “Worlds Beyond Earth” in the planetarium. And get over the amazing aquarium. One of my favorite reasons to visit the frost is to see these two very different ecosystems we have in Florida compared side by side. In the aviary is where you can see the biggest contrast between our Mangroves and beaches. For the older children there is the “Me Lab” by Baptist , that focuses on our body and health. For the younger guys there is the “River of Grass” which allows them to be actively in the exhibit. There is also “Feathers to the Stars” where nature meets science in aeronautical adventures. There is plenty to do and see at The Frost, I would personally recommend starting from the top and working your way down the museum! As you reach the end be sure to snap some phots under the incredible Oculus view of the gulf tank and put yourself virtually in a strong hurricane!
