We are Mom’s and we are human too! As if we didn’t have enough on our plate, this “new normal’ has really kicked things up a notch. Now we have added masks and disinfectants to our packing list. We spend our days cleaning up, setting up, and doing everything for everyone, but here is a reminder to take care of YOU!
In our busy schedules it seems almost impossible to do, but Momma you need it! The better care you take of yourself, the better the care you will be able to provide! In an airplane you must secure your own oxygen before securing those next to you. So with that being said here are some tips for self care practice!
Make a Schedule! Whether you’re a stay at home mom, a working from home mom, or working mom, there needs to be a time slot for you! These links provide you with some examples of how Mom’s manage to get things done! I know I am a working from home mom, and my schedule is key. Without it I don’t have the time for myself, nor would I have the time for work.
Create goals! Dream about your future. A diary, writing in your notes on your phone, posting about it! Hey you could even use sticky notes. Whatever makes you feel whole, but find a place where you can dream. Because let’s be real we have places we want to get to too!
Declutter! There are so many ways to start fresh, and one is fixing that mess! Take an afternoon or early morning to tackle that hall closet that is totally out of control! The local dollar store has lots of organization options, or you can even plan a trip to Ikea (don’t forget the hand sanitizer & facial coverings).
Exercise! Running has been my personal go to, because I can put my babies in the stroller. I have woven it into our daily routine, and now my two year old asks me to go running! If you have trouble with time, try a morning workout, these can be done first thing in the morning and will help you kick start your day. Another great option is to get the family involved in a workout video, try YouTube!
Self care can be practiced in many other forms! But create the habit, it takes at least 21 days to create a new habit. Start today by making the choice to show up for yourself. Make the time by having someone watch the kids, or waking up an extra 30 minutes early! You will feel the difference!
